I have plans. Audacious plans.

I want to audition for Listen To Your Mother this year. I don’t have to get in, I just want to get as far as auditioning. I don’t have any clue what to read, but I’ll figure that out later.

I want to finish this thing (not this thing – it’s longer than a blog post) I’m trying to write, and then I want to do something with it. Something more than sitting on it or leaving it under the bed or not actually finishing it.

I am seriously – seriously, I say – considering moving this whole blog to WordPress and actually going self-hosted, like a grownup blogger.

Is that enough for you? What are you planning for 2014?

What is listen to your mother? I’d love to get anything published, but I have to put my stuff out there first, which has been my hurdle up to now.
Best wishes for whatever it is your sitting on. I love the way you write.
As for wordpress, I love it. I have found it to be a real community. The people who comment on my blog really care about me and my life and topic. If you can risk it I’d go for it. I don’t think it’s ever a good time but it will never get any easier to change.
Hope this year fulfills all your dreams.

I never even knew there was a community aspect to WP before you mentioned it elsewhere – how does it come about?

Listen To Your Mother is a live stage performance of bloggers reading pieces they’ve written relating to motherhood. If you follow the link you’ll see more. They do them in various cities and there’s one in DC (and Baltimore, actually; I’m almost midway between the two).

I don’t think any one of your plans is audacious in relation to your excellent writing, coherence and ability. Should you go ahead with your plans I would expect no less than greatness to result from all attempts. Best of luck for 2014 and I seriously hope you jump right into doing what you have mentioned in this post. x

I’ve always thought I’d like to a LTYM, but I didn’t realize that you were supposed to read blog posts as opposed to just reading something you’d written. That’s me out then. I’d love to come cheer you on, though.

No, I don’t think it is blog posts. I always thought the opposite, but looking at the site it appears you can just write something for it. Do, come and try out with me.

I had it mixed up with Voices of the Year, which is for a blog post from the previous year. But LTYM is just anything at all, as far as I can see.

I am certain you’re going to finish the thing you’re writing – you sound determined, this will be your year. Regarding moving to self-hosted: I am very glad I did it (drama aside) – I do prefer it to good old Blogger. Though I don’t have a WP community like Tric mentioned. Having said that, I think it’s the equivalent of the bloggers I found when I first started – like you and Joanna, and then all the people in IPB. You always stay linked to the people who help you at the start I think.

Oh you totally have to audition. You’ll get it. It sounds amazing and you have so many brilliant posts to read out. We should have that in Ireland, it’s a brilliant idea!

I second, (third?, fourth?) the wordpress move. I really like it and I’d love to comment on your blog more 🙂

I have every faith that I’ll be reading your nearly finished work of art by the end of 2014 xx

You have great confidence in me!

(Strangely, I got the e-mail notification for this comment but then I had to go and dig it out of my spam folder to make it show up here. Blogger really doesn’t like you.)
