Carboholic

Let me take a moment out of this pregnancy to catalogue what Monkey eats these days:

rice krispies
cheerios (usually out of someone else’s bowl)
yogurt
waffles (mostly with Nutella)
crackers with peanut butter
peanut butter sandwiches (which must often be consumed on the floor while a parent builds a lego tower)
bagels (plain, untoasted)
toast with margarine (only Daddy’s)
baguette (unadulterated)
milk, chocolate milk, vanilla milk
juice, all sorts
cashew nuts
french toast (very occasionally)
cookie bunnies
cracker bunnies
goldfish crackers
odwalla cereal bars (always someone else’s)
french fries (but never homemade ones)

And of course, cookies, tortilla chips, ice cream, brownies, and chocolate cake. Other cakes may or may not be rejected.

That’s it. He has never deigned to taste meat, fish, egg, cheese, pasta, rice, potato in non-fry form, ketchup, or a vegetable. He used to eat apple, but hasn’t for ages. He’ll sometimes lick a piece of fruit, but not go any further.

He loves to watch (and “help”) me cook, and his food vocabulary is pretty good – he knows what the garlic press does and how to grate nutmeg – but as for actually eating food; well, he’s just pathetic. I try not to obsess about it.
